So many of us seek a guru or spiritual teacher. Your search many have just started or you may still be looking after years for that perfect special mentor. Will that someone help you develop your foundation of your practice or have they attained a higher level of insight to help guide you on your path? Do you feel frustrated or lost with out a mentor? When it comes down to it, the greatest teacher you could ever want you already know and has been with you since day one...that teacher is YOUR life.
When we are open to receiving wisdom through lessons, everyday people, circumstances and situations can teach us profoundly even though they do not look or act like a guru or spiritual teacher. Take into consideration that some people teach us by nudging us to do what we don't want to, and all life situations from the insignificant to the major ones intertwine to teach us exactly what we need to be learning at any given time. The classroom of your life teaches you patience, compassion, forgiveness, honesty, love and much much more.
A great way to help remember that your life is your perfect teacher is to start your day with a few positive affirmations or mantras. You might say to something such as, "I acknowledge life as the greatest teacher for me and I am open to receiving the wisdom I gain from the daily experiences of life." Taking time each day to consider what your learning is instrumental to your growth. A difficult phase with your child might be teaching you to let go or to even hold tighter. A homeless person might be teaching you your boundaries of generosity and compassion. A lost item might be teaching you to be more present in the physical.
Trust your intuition, work at your own pace, and ask as many questions as you want along the way. Your life has all the answers. Never underestimate who you are.
